The Crosswoods Golf Course golf professionals are dedicated to helping golfers of all levels—from beginners to seasoned players—improve their game. We offer private and group lessons (upon request), camps, and clinics throughout the summer. Our practice facility features a full driving range, putting and chipping greens, a practice bunker, wedge course, and FlightScope launch monitor for detailed stats and custom club fittings.

Meet our Professional Staff:

Tim Trott — Head Golf Professional 

Born and raised in the Brainerd Lakes Area, Tim Trott brings deep local roots and professional-level playing experience to the tee box at Crosswoods Golf Course. A Brainerd High School alumnus, Tim honed his expertise at The San Diego Golf Academy, where he earned his Associate Degree in Golf Operations and Management.

Following graduation, Tim competed professionally on the Golden State Mini Tour before returning home to Minnesota to launch his career as a dedicated golf professional. Today, he translates that competitive playing experience into highly effective instruction, helping Crosslake golfers of all skill levels improve their mechanics, lower their scores, and truly enjoy the game.

When he isn’t on the lesson tee, you can usually find Tim out on the course playing a round with his two sons, Mason and Connor. During the Minnesota off-season, he trades his clubs for the outdoors, enjoying ice fishing and trips to South Dakota for pheasant hunting. And if you ever need proof of Tim's precision on the course—he currently boasts an incredible 24 career holes-in-one!

Savannah Nelson, PGA

As a certified PGA Teaching Professional, Savannah brings top-tier golf instruction and a lifetime of passion for the game to Crosswoods Golf Course. Having grown up right here at Crosswoods, Savannah has an unparalleled connection to the Brainerd Lakes golf community and is stepping into a core leadership role to help guide the facility into its next generation.

Whether she is introducing the fundamentals to beginners, running our junior programs, or utilizing our state-of-the-art indoor simulators to help single-digit handicaps fine-tune their swing mechanics, Savannah’s teaching philosophy centers on making golf accessible, enjoyable, and rewarding for all skill levels.

Beyond the lesson tee, Savannah serves as a the Director of Golf for the Crosswoods operation, ensuring every golfer has a premier experience from the pro shop to the 18th green. When she isn't at the course, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Gunnar, and their young son, Trygve.

Junior Activities and Programs 2026

 Northwoods Junior Golf Adventure Clinics - $45 per clinic

Join us for an exciting clinic where young golfers will dive into all aspects of the game! Over the course of two hours, participants will receive hands-on instruction in full swing techniques, chipping, putting, bunker play, and even enjoy some engaging relay games. Led by PGA professional, Savannah Nelson, this clinic offers a perfect blend of learning and fun. No need to bring clubs – we'll provide everything needed for an unforgettable golfing experience! Ages 6 - 12.

Youth on Course

Youth on Course - It’s All About Access! Youth on Course provides young people with access to life-changing opportunities through golf. Members have access to play rounds of golf for $5 or less at thousands of golf courses in the U.S., Canada, and Australia.

Crosswoods Golf Course is proud to offer Youth on Course at our facility. Please be mindful of these specific instructions before you arrive to play:

• YOC valid after 12pm daily on the Sunset course
• YOC valid after 12pm Mon - Thurs on Sunrise/Highnoon
• Not valid Memorial Day Weekend, June 29 - July 5 and Labor Day Weekend
• Cart rental fee applies with valid drivers license and proof of YOC cart test
